A Sign of Hope in Tondo: A Community’s Chance to Rise.
Congo Arise
Congo Arise, is an organization that was established to help the needy and improve the quality of life for people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This includes drinking water wells, rural development projects, helping the most needy such as widows, and building a much-needed hospital in the village of Tondo in the Equateur region of D.R. Congo.
Village of Tondo
Many years ago there was a visionary leader named Mompongo mo Imana who lived in this community and organized many great projects in this region. Educated in the USA, he brought important leaders from other nations to showcase his village. He invited another visionary named Millard Fuller who was the founder of Habitat for Humanity (made famous by Jimmy Carter and others). Millard Fuller established Habitat’s first international housing project in Tondo in the 1970s.
Unfortunately there was a terrible flood that caused great destruction in Tondo. Buildings were lost and others have deteriorated. The village leaders said that a new hospital is their first priority. This will be our biggest project, but we also want to restore the hope of our brothers and sisters in Tondo.
Make a donation
The community leaders are anxiously awaiting the building of the new hospital. They have donated land and have prepared the site. Please join them in this urgent project.
Be a Volunteer
It will be a big project and require a lot of support. The very first effort will be to drill a drinking water well at the site of the new hospital.
Spread the Word
Ex-missionary Dale Long was inspired to help encourage and rebuild the village. He remembered the thriving village of many years ago
